I have a crown royal heater that was installed 3yrs ago and when I turned the heat on the beginning of November it worked for 2 weeks ... One day I went into basement and it was water pouring out of the front of it.. I had someone come look at if an he said I need a whole new heater... Is there anything I can do to avoid spending another $? ... I was told this one should last 10 to 15 years..

Sorry but if your boiler is leaking water, it is shot. It needs to be replaced.
You might want to get yourself one of these Crown Royals
What is the serial number? There may be some warranty left on that boiler. It may save you on the actual boiler... Not the Labor which is the lions share of a new boiler price.
The near boiler piping is incorrect, which may have been a contributing factor in the reason your boiler failed.

Did whoever looked at it pull the jacket to see where it is leaking from? It is possible that it is a leak at a fitting or plug or between sections and can be repaired. What is the heat exchanger warranty?
Please edit to remove pricing.
If it is installed and applied properly you should get 20-40 or more years.2 -
Crown Boiler (now Velocity Boiler Works) of Philadelphia is one of the only boiler manufacturers that publish and sell a "Boiler Piping Kit" for the steam boilers they sell. You should get in touch with the installing company and sue their **** for improperly installing that boiler.
All the guesswork in selecting the proper pipe nipples and fittings are gone when you purchase this kit and follow the instructions. Your copper return piping does not have the required "Hartford Loop" that will insure that steam pressure in the boiler will not force all the water out of the boiler into the return piping resulting in a "Dry Fire" situation that will cause a catastrophic boiler failure.

What a complete shame! Who ever installed that did not read or follow the boiler installation manual.
Take the model & serial # and I would call Crown directly and ask about the warranty.
And whatever you do don't let the original installer back in the house.
Download the boiler manual and look at the piping diagram yourself. They should not have used copper tubing and it's done all wrong1 -
Boiler boiler should last 25 at minimum IMHO.
What does the digital display on the device I circled read, and have you ever reset it?
That heat exchanger should still be under warranty I would think, but review your paperwork and find out for sure.0 -

Beyond the incorrect piping, there’s likely another issue that caused the failure: it’s likely that you have a leak somewhere - maybe a wet return - that’s caused an excessive amount of fresh water to be added. That can cause an extremely premature failure.Bob Boan
You can choose to do what you want, but you cannot choose the consequences.1 -
@Ironman
If I was the MFG I wouldn't honor the warranty but for the homeowners sake I hope they do and he can find a decent installer. What a mess.1 -
it definitely isn't right, but depending on what is going on up higher near the ceiling it may not be as bad as it looks in that picture.EBEBRATT-Ed said:@Ironman

Sure that's a Crown "Royal"? Looks like a Jamaica to me, which is a rebranded Dunkirk. As usual, someone reduced the size of the steam outlet from 2-1/2" to 2", which is another major no-no on this job.
The current Crown Bermuda series uses 2" top outlets.
What is the model number of this boiler? All Steamed Up, Inc.

How can you even tell? The riser comes up behind the vent ant you can barely see it then ties in somehow near the ceiling.0

But I guess they we're having a drink over the death of their current one.0
