C.I. Baseboard Section Assembly Question

So, I have been salvaging a lot (200 feet) of cast iron baseboard. Most of the ports where push nipples are installed have cleaned up just fine, but in one instance, I have a port with some very slight rust pitting. Any thoughts on how successful using a product like JB Weld might be for that particular section? I would only use it on the pitted surface where the nipple goes, and pipe dope on the other side so I can disassemble if needed.
Thanks!
Thanks!
