Any Pros out there have a recommended replacement for the Slant/Fin Bobcat 200-A piped with a domestic water heater coil? I'd appreciate your input.
Best regards to all, Lance

Your Bobcat 200A unit is good for minimum BTU 50,000 to 200,000 btu output.

Are you using it for domestic hot water or hot water heating.

Is your aluminum heat exchanger beginning to fail or is there another problem.

Can't make a recommendation unless you say why.

TO be clearer, I am not worried about BTUH. I have 40 years always sizing right.
What brands do professionals recommend to replace this brand for the combined duty of heat and year round domestic water heating? This Bobcat cannot live past 10 years anymore. Residential use. Its a ford or chev question and what model is preferred. Quite frankly I am fed up with the constant changes in designs and the costly results of letting the customers be the quality control and test subjects for what I feel are too many products sent to sales that are untested fully or have little testing done to prove their worth. Not to mention the shorter years parts are available to repair and the higher rate of degradation of materials used or programming changes or the fragility of the products to handle normal stress in testing, service, and tolerances in power and fuel conditions.
Thanks in advance for any opinions,

And the reason for most of that is the publics Cheep, cheaper, cheapest race to the bottom and the gouberments energy regulations.

A boiler cant be compared to a Ford / Chevy that's built in a factory under controlled conditions and exactly the same. Your simple boiler has to be Sized properly and installed in your home that's unique and probably not like any others.

The installing contractors name is more important then the name on the boiler.

I'd stick with a cast-iron boiler using standardized controls. These have gotten more efficient over the past couple decades. Look at the Slant/Fin Sentry, for example.

    Hard to recommend a product.
What I would look for is heat exchanger's made of copper.
    Well insulated cabinets.
    High quality pumps if needed.
And at least a 10 year guarantee. A distributor that services the end customer.

ALSO VERY HIGH EFFICIENCY UNITS HAVE SHORTER LIFE SPANS AND NEED LESS SERVICE THAN THE KEEP IT SIMPLE EQUIPMENT.

My followup. I bit the bullet and bought a Rinnai for both DHW and heat for myself. So far all is good. Time well tell if I bought wisely or not. I also have installed a Bradford White Brute for a client. It is a beautiful piece of engineering. Floor mounted and also comes wall mounted.
