Anyone use an infrared thermometer to measure flue temperatures? Are they helpful? Which brand?

    For general readings............
    maybe at best. 
    Read the instructions, type of material, distance from surface, color all effect the readings.

    A quality thermometer gage in the flue gas stream is best.

    I use them to measure delta t, not accurate enough for anything other than general temperature readings, imo
    You can have it good, fast or cheap. Pick two
