Can steam risers expand within a sleeve of pipe insulation?

The pipe insulation sleeves are denser than i thought. Is it okay if the pipe insulation sleeve fits snugly between a steam riser and the adjacent wall? Will the steam riser still be able to expand as it needs to within the sleeve of insulation or should there be a gap between the sleeve of insulation and the wall?

No to worry. The pipe will expand very happily -- the fit of the insulation is nowhere near good enough to prevent that!Br. Jamie, osb

And the pipes don't expand measurably in that direction
