In addition to repiping this boiler with the usual dual riser 3” drop header, we created a high water cut off as well. While the design is simply, it ultimately took 4 of us to create it  including my brother, @EzzyT, another technician and myself. Check it out!

Nice idea works two fold stopping a stuck feeder from flooding and when a forgetful home owner leaves the manual valve open .I would love to see it operating so it closes the valve at a point slightly above a full glass . Aside from not flooding the system completely is it wired to disable the boiler from firing . I think it would be great on problem system that need false water lines and or are prone to over feeding and flooding during there cycles even with 10 minute delay on the feeders and mimiun feed rates . Great idea keep em coming peace and good luck clammy

Thanks @clammy! We could use the end switch on the zone valve to shut the boiler (or do any number of things) but I’m still debating that option(s).

won't the vaporstat or pressuretrol shut down the boiler once water builds up anyways?

    YUP. 2.33ft = 1psi

If you run an vaporstat as low as 8-10oz cut off, if the boiler floods by as little at 16” if will shut down. Even with 1psi shut off it should shut down before coming out the main vents near the ceiling.

When my LWCO float was sticking a little and it wasn’t feeding correctly. The boiler would flood and shut itself down on LWCO.

If you're gonna do that, you'd have to wire the Vaporstat so it cuts the juice to the water feeder as well as the burner. Or, use a SPDT Vaporstat to switch the power from the burner to the zone valve to close it as the pressure rises.
