Well they got what they paid for....well I hope they did anyway as that should have been relatively cheap.

I can't believe you gave them New England Steamworks and they didn't use him. Did they even call him?

Not thrilled with large pipe hole in main structural beam of house. Not sure about it , might be OK since it's at end of beam so bending stress is low, but at end of beam shear stress is high.

    Asbestos insulation?

Don't get me started on the kitchen. There is a light over the kitchen sink and also a window the light is 4in off center to the left of the window and the kitchen sink is 4 off center to the right of the window.

I guess she did and she said the estimate was the same as one to install a "more efficient" mod/con boiler with regular baseboard.
She got mad when I tried to ask if the mod/con installer had done a complete heat load calculation on the entire house before coming up with that estimate. Probably not. She also complained about getting burned on the radiators and got really mad when I asked how many times does it take for her to be cautious? 🤣. she seems like the type that had to touch a hot stove one more than once as a kid. Haha

I get the distinct feeling all their extra remodeling money from their "first time home buyer" mortgage started dwindling faster than they realized. everybody buys all the furniture for the house before they start remodeling right? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ok I know it's not you and I am not directing my comments at anyone in particular, but these "I got burned" claims I am going to go ahead and call BS on.

I physically tested this recently. I held my hand on my radiator for ~2-3 seconds, end section closest to valve while it was heating. Now pretty much the entire time it hurt, a lot, and guess what? I still didn't get burned. The "ouch" factor has me pulling my hand away in less than a second, if I don't force myself to hold on. A burn means medical attention, your hand being red for a few seconds isn't burned.

This "burned" thing is massively overblown IMHO.

Well having a steam system saved is still a win in my book. I'm waiting for her to brag about the newer boiler so I can point out everything they did wrong. I reserve my right to be childish once in a while. 🤣
