I am visiting my older parents for a few days and discovered this problem on their boiler. Buderus Lagano G115 w5. It was installed in 2009 and there is major corrosion around the return fitting. Is there a bolt on fitting plate to replace or is that the whole expensive and heavy boiler? What would cause this? Electrolysis? A drip at the fitting that a plumber supposedly caused a few years back. There are dissimilar metals there I see. Brass into steal? Could it be surface corrosion, or Is the whole things hot? Thanks for the help. Photos below.

You got a long term leak there. You should have it repaired asap.

It more than likely just needs someone to take apart the fittings and re seal.
It is a pretty committing job so it would be best to call a pro."If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough"

The G115 has a 1" return to help prevent shock and condensing.
I would ask the contractor to repipe it with black pipe out of the boiler block and then go to copper.
I'd like to see how the whole boiler is piped.0
