    Interesting that it got hot in the front first. The back riser actually heated from the header back to the block. You can sure tell when it reached a proper boil though!

    @ratio: Sometimes, on some boilers with two outlets, the rear pipe starts to get warm first (it seems to be random as to which pipe heats first. Its different for each boiler) and the wisps and tendrils of heat/vapor appear to waft out of one pipe, back though the header and back down the other outlet pipe...then,
    Woosh!
    The real steam comes rolling out both pipes as seen here.

    Interesting to watch this , thanks for posting. I'll tell you man I insulated my drop header on mine this year and the fuel savings and performance increase were both extraordinary .

    Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

    Very cool.

    On my first steam install fire-up, I had my hand on the header waiting for it to heat up like I would for a hot water boiler.

    It didn't leave a scar on my hand, maybe my ego for not thinking that through. 0 to 60 right now.
