I'm fine here, Harvey. Try clearing the cookies or history or both in your browser?Br. Jamie, osb

Not happening here.Retired and loving it.0

It's happening with my Samsung Note 5. I have Chrome for my browser and McAfee Livesafe for virus protection.
Other symptoms I experience with this device while on HH, sluggish scrolling, trouble typing a post. Like I will be typing on the keyboard, and in the text box the letters will quit appearing or fall way behind.
I clear my browsing history and cookies, cache, and temp files regularly. Not sure what it is.0 -
I had about 10 in a row yesterday but they’re gone now.0
-
You've probably picked up a virus. Try scanning it with something other than McAfee- very often one AV program will miss something but another will catch it.All Steamed Up, Inc.

Mine is running fine in chrome. I have found many pop ups come from malware plug ins installed with kids games and other programs."If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough"

I did notice some of Harvey's behavior before on my computer. If I remember it had something to do with some of the ads, especially video ones, slowing down the browser. I specifically remember when typing it would either eat the keystrokes, or the window would jump to the bottom. But it seemed to go away on its own.
There was an error rendering this rich post.

Oh indeed -- some of the ads, especially ones with video, can really slow things down on any browser. Not much to be done about that. But that's a completely different thing from the popups...Br. Jamie, osb

Do these pop ups take over your whole screen or just the 1/3 to the right side?0
-
Just was advised by Chrome "10 popups blocked". Only place I've seen that is here.0

Same here.Dan_NJ said:Just was advised by Chrome "10 popups blocked". Only place I've seen that is here.

You can go to TrendMicro/housecall and run a scan on your device for free or download free Malwarebytes and run that. I also use Spybot Search & Destroy from Safer-Networking.org.

BHO's (Browser Helper Objects) are probably the culprit, but that's probably above your pay grade. It could be a captured Host file. Run Spybot Search & Destroy and it may solve your problem. Always update your virus and malware signatures on a regular basis.

It could also be a Rootkit which can actually make serious changes to your operating system.0 -
Thanks for the info. I'll check with our developers on this too.

It’s most likely upstream coming from your ad suppliers. Need to check website code just in case but it’s probably malicious ads being servers by your ad provider0
-
@Harvey Ramer - Are you experiencing this only on the forum or on the main site as well? Thanks!

Only on the forum and only with my note-5. I haven't had any issues on here with my PC.
It hasn't happened today at all.
I take that back. As I was speaking 6 pop ups got blocked.0 -
Here are some screen shots and URLs. I wouldn't click on the URL.0

Thanks, Harvey. I'll message you soon.

People just don't clear their tracking cookies or cache.0

I downloaded Malwarebytes last night and ran it. It didn't pick up on anything, although I wasn't in safe mode.0

@Harvey Ramer - Our code is ok and our ads don't allow popups. (We hate them too.) I did some research and there are others with Samsung phones who've also experienced this issue with popups. Double check the third-party apps on your phone. Some people had random apps that were causing the issue.

I've been getting tons of pop ups (blocked) as well. Looks like I will have to update my software on my Android phone.0

There are many many apps for smartphones out there -- both Android and Apple. The Apple ones are slightly better vetted -- but only slightly. A lot of them look like they do all sorts of useful and nifty things -- while at the same time they are doing other things in the background. Some of which is visible -- like popups -- some of which is not -- like collecting what web sites you visit and peddling that info to yet other shady characters. Fun world, isn't it?Br. Jamie, osb

I get so disgusted sometimes.0

My pop up blocker has been working overtime here. It happened the same time my phone did an update and thought that's what it was. Guess not.0

http://w4-tracking.com/go/? Is the url I'm seeing in these POP UPS and only from this site. Very few apps installed and never seen this before anywhere else.0

There was someone who posted about 10 different Sales type ads, on here, all at about the same time, maybe a week or so ago. seemed to be a foreign source, China, I think. Did you guys happen to open any of those posts? I'm wondering if they contained some embedded malware??? Those posts disappeared within a couple hours. I don't know if @Erin Holohan Haskell removed them or what.0
