HEADER AND EQUALIZER ARE THE SAME SIZE

Just replaced a faulty gas valve on a Burnham IN7S that was installed by another company and noticed the equalizer was the same size of the header...2”. I know that’s not in line with the manufacturers specs, but will that make a difference?

I would download the installation manual, and show the owner what size pipes should have been used, in order for correct operation, and warranty coverage.
Such a small riser will surely raise the velocity of the exiting steam, and blow a lot of water up into the mains, reducing efficiency.—NBC

No that boiler would require two 2” riser and a 3” header minimum. But hey at least the equalizer is big enough to route all the water back to the boiler. Lol

The header should have been 3” then reduced to 1-1/2” on the drop for the equalizer... I know... this isn’t piped right to begin with. But is piping the equalizer the same size as the header detrimental in the long run? Boiler works fine, no issues
    Just too curious I guess

No not at all, in fact regardless of what the manufacturer says most of us guys here run a 2” equalizer minimum.

Risers, equalizers and headers can always be larger than specified in the install manual. The install manual sizes are minimum. In this case the oversized equalizer could be helping the cause
