I've been looking for marbles most of my life, mine were electronic marbles that were always looking for the easiest way to find their way back to ground. When things go wrong you have to figure out what other path they found or what opened up so they couldn't find their way, over the years I got pretty good at figuring out what went wrong.

My problem now is that I can't find all of my own marbles.

I have always thought of it as getting or being "inside the pipe"

I've always visualized stuff -- whether it's steam or water or a recalcitrant tractor. It's just the way it works for me...
