these are similar except where the exp tank is.
is the one with the tank on the retun manfold still considered pumping into the tank?

    no thats pumping away...all circulators are pumping away from the point of no pressure change....

    In that diagram, because the expansion tank is connected so close to the buffer tank, the entire buffer tank is the PONPC.
