I got my book."Lost art of Steam heat"

Options
Twenty years ago a friend recomended that i get Dan's book because I have a 1930's two pipe steam in my house. In Colorado Springs there are not many steam systems so there are not very many experts on the subject so I poked along for all these years. I finally got around to ordering the book . Yay.. I read chapter 1 of the book, reduced the pressure, and a bunch of my problems went away. We were actually talkking about converting to forced air the day before the book came. Now i'm looking foward to fixing and fine tuning my system. Talk to you all soon. I'll be reading for a while. Thanks!

A few things....20 years to buy his book? Is it autographed?
You do know he has written a few other books since then, right? I wouldn't wait another 20 years, there might not be printing presses anymore.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

One of the greatest books ever written...an incredibly useful classic in the company of Shakespeare and Hemingway. YES, I'm serious. I have 7 or 8 copies in various conditions...

I got mine 20 years ago! As someone who's job is building maintenance, it has been an indispensable resource. It's an amazing book!

I've read the book at least three times. I'm convinced that current trend to hot water, especially in larger buildings,is from ignorance about steam.

    Welcome aboard!
I feel late to the party myself in that I should have studied up on this 20 ago. Don't own a steam system, but have hot water myself.
I correct that about the ownership of a steam system........once you work on one around here....."you own it". Meaning that for lack of steam interested people I will get called or referred.
So my wife, kids and grandkids refer to me as reading my
"boiler porn" site all the time. ;)

That's funny! I'm often accused of spending time on my "fetish" sites, either here or at those for Chambers stoves.
