I am sure the red glow is insulation.
1. Is the red glow normal inside the boiler?
2. Should I worry about asbestos that is being burnt in the insulation?
3. Does anyone know what caused the scorch marks and cracks on the outer left and right side cover?
Thanks in advance for studying my videos and pictures that I have uploaded.
Any advice if I should replace the boiler or keep it ?

There's a lot of pictures. Which ones should we look at for the insulation?
Which pictures for scorch marks? There was an error rendering this rich post.

Boiler has definitely seen better days.
Not sure there is any asbestos in there.... should just be ceramic refractory.

Ok . I will research ceramic refractory. I may test it.

You should replace the boiler. A unit like that has a 20-30 year life expectancy. Yours is used up.
If the glow you are talking about is on the outside of the boiler and the outer jacket is cracked that is not normal or in any way safe. Do not allow a boiler in that condition run inside your home, it is very unsafe."If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough"

From what I am seeing it is a furnace, and is heavily cracked. It needs shut down and replaced asap as it is not safe.

I have a question.
Fact #1. Modern residential boilers use cerafelt or kawool liners or no chamber material
Fact#2. Most home heating systems don't use refractory in the combustion chamber today.
Fact#3 "Without this refractory in its proper place, overheating of the metal of the heat exchanger or boiler components can result in damage to the system. "
(Per. http://www.ashireporter.org/HomeInspection/Articles/The-Inner-Chamber-/209#F-11.gif)
My question is: if modern boilers do not use refractory in the combustion chamber why do modern boilers not melt ?0 -
The majority of the flame energy goes against the heat exchanger which is filled with water.0

Right. And some wet-base boilers are designed that way. But you can't get away without refractory on a dry-base boiler or a scorched-air furnasty. All Steamed Up, Inc.

So why does it that a old 1970 gas boiler must have a refractory and a new 2016 gas boiler does not need a refractory in the combustion chamber.0

First of all, the boiler is shut down right?
Your boiler is not "kind of dangerous" where we should debate why it went bad or when to replace it. Your boiler is totally shot and should never be turned on again.
Please confirm you understand.
Then you can get into the finer points of boiler design and what may have happened to yours....."If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough"

If you look at the photos in the OP, it is a boiler...rick in Alaska said:From what I am seeing it is a furnace, and is heavily cracked. It needs shut down and replaced asap as it is not safe.
