The final step: 3 Big Mouth vents added to the 4" main. This main is 175' long (105' of 4"' and 70' of 3"): it took less than 12 minutes to vent it.

The 2 1/2" main is 35': it took a Hoffman 75 slightly longer to vent that.

If the headers of the boilers are tied together, and the wet returns, then the pressures in both boilers pretty well have to be the same, with only minor head loss differences. So the water levels will stay very close to each other. No need to get fancy.

That's a might pretty piece of work, there, Bob!

This is a dream job, have you been back there this winter? I'm curious to know if you changed out the cycle guard for the hydro and what effect did it have?

Yes, I replaced them with SafeGards. Made a big difference.

The CycleGards are made with a few different models: 10/90 10 minutes on, 90 seconds off: 20/90; 20/60.

The Dunkirk that we installed last month came with the 20/90 which didn't really affect that system adversely, but the MegaSteams came with the 10/90 which caused a huge problem on the church because they didn't cycle in unison and the system had very large and long mains.

Pretty sure if you connect two boilers together with gravity returns each boiler needs a check valve on the return.

If a boiler fails and leaks this will prevent the other boiler loosing water immediately. Think this is ASME code
