How old could this be?

I know it is at least 35 yrs old because that is when we moved in the house and we never had a reason to replace until this past week. I wonder what the typical life span is of a fan controller limit switch?

It's closer to 50 years old, or more. I've probably replaced 3 of them in 20 years. So that's why they stopped making them
There was an error rendering this rich post.

Thanks! I hated to see it go after so many years. Impressive!
They still make them. But there have been many revisions.0 -
Dont forget the stack switch on the vent pipe (betting I know where this house is or dejavu that I just looked at the exact match)0

Thanks for the advice, I looked it up to see what a stack switch is. We don't have one. Looks like a really good thing to have. But we don't. Must be a dejavu all over again.0

There is probably a date code on the inside cover or on t6he control it's self. Year week or month like 7342. 42 week of 19730

Do you still use the furnace that came with it?0

reluctantly, yes.0

How about some pictures of the rest of the unit? Have you given thought to upgrading your system prior to a complete failure?0

I'll see what I can find and post for historical posterity. Not worried about complete failure of equipment that has been in service since approximately the year 1900+\- 5yrs.
Just the efficiency. It is a concern when price of oil is in the $4 range.0 -
Why does 1973 seem not that long ago?
no kidding. the first Star Wars movie came out in 1977!!!0 -
I probably took my kids out of school to see it!0
