WM Ultra Series 3 not achieving CH target, DHW production is good

First off, this is all passed from customer since install is not nearby.
Sounds like control kills the burner at 90degF on a 150degF target. No error codes or faults. DHW is operating as it should.
Does anyone know of this control having some quirky behavior?

    Is the house warm?

Is there an outdoor sensor on the system?

House is not warm. OD sensor present. Target never achieved on CH. I feel like one of the sensors... be it OD, supply, return, exhaust has possibly failed.

Someone entered 150*, and(incorrectly) expects the boiler to run to that. The house is running ODR, and it is not set correctly. Unless the house is in the Artic circle, there is no way the boiler should be calling for 150*.

How would you know the correct target temp without knowing what type of radiation?

I would start by jumping the TT terminals to be sure it is a boiler issues. It could easily be bad contacts in a t-stat or controller. From there, double check all the settings.

You're right......I'm sure the t-stat is killing the burner at 90*

custy says fan coil blowing cold, and/or TT doing 63degF.
i'm just going to have to go out there and check the settings. i'm being told no one touched the settings, but I don't believe it. yes, why would it be showing a 150 target right now? just trying to avoid going to the city. maybe dirty air filter on air handler.

I hate to say this, but if you're being told that no one touched the settings... the odds are someone touched the settings. Don't blame you for wanting to avoid the trip, though!

We service one of those series 3's as well, and we had the exact same thing happen a few weeks ago. We strongly believe someone played with it. Reset the proper settings and all is good. Sent a bill for our efforts (non owner occupied).

Can you unplug the display?
  • That would be a good reason to have an Internet-connected boiler, so the responsible party could check the settings from outside.--NBC

I've recently bought two Lochinvar Con-X-Us systems for just this reason. You know it's a settings issue. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to fix it from your couch?

    I assume sarcasm...
I would still try to isolate the problem rather than jump to conclusions without all the info.

Absolutely..........There is no need to make someone else wrong to be right. Just state your opinion, and maybe I would change mine. There is entirely too much of that going on here, and it's not necessary.

This is something all manufactures could use.
It is helpful for the owner to be able report error messages and operating conditions. All to often, the owner accidentally changes a setting.
