How Far?

Was just wondering, how far below the mason dixen are/were steam heating systems used? We have an incredible amount here on the New England area.. Many of them never touched, since installed. A steam guys love..

I have seen quite a few in my travels to North Carolina.My relatives there have a tough time getting someone competent to work on theirs. I think they finally found a New York transplant that knows steam.
The Biltmore estate outside of Asheville has a fantastic steam system from 1890. Not to mention AC and DC power, an elevator, intercom and walk in coolers. You can get a "butlers tour" of many of the inner workings for an extra fee. It is really easy to get "lost" and fall off the back of the group (into boiler rooms) if you are careful.

Ft Meyers, Florida has the Edison museum with steam radiators in it, however I do not know if it is functional. Not far away, Boca Grande has the Gasparilla Inn with a working one pipe system.
