Thought of another one this week and sought to dig this list up as the heating season draws nearer. Original list compiled by Rod, I believe.

You might be a Steam Man:

1. If an antique radiator turns you on more than the latest Play Boy centerfold!
2. If you use the term "condensate" for the liquid most people call water!
3. If your nose wrinkles up when you see copper pipe!
4. If the first thing you do when entering another person's home is look for radiators!
5. If when looking for a house to buy, you ask the realtor if they have any with a vapor system!
6. If, when visiting a home with steam radiators, you ask your host if you can see his basement!
7. If your Christmas wish list includes a 60 “ Rigid pipe wrench!
8. If you hate summer and can’t wait for cold weather!
9. If you have a 32" plasma installed in the boiler room!
10. If you have spare 4 inch pipe fittings in your basement!
11. If when driving on a major highway, the next exit is an-inch-and-a-quarter miles away!
12. If you use polished antique radiator vents as Christmas ornaments!
13. If when you boil water for pasta on the stove, you grab a chair, a stop watch, and a notebook!

14. If C and D can be letters and numbers!

Our Realtor thought I was nuts when I specifically told her we wanted a house with steam.

I am just a homeowner, but my friend is painting custom flames on my front boiler cover...does that count for anything?

yes, it counts..you might be a steam man if you paint your boiler but not your house

Hey the boiler is inside the house! My wife wanted to paint the kitchen cabinets, but I said no. Then she found out I was having the flames done...yeah that conversation didn't go the greatest. lol We still aren't painting the kitchen though.

yes......me too.......I finally figured out how to meter the condensate based on btuh per sq ft per degree day.............and control it via my iPhone...............oh crap.......my phones dead......

I know this is an old thread but I couldn't resist. I wipe off the dust from the top of the boiler jacket. dunno if it counts.

well, yesterday was thanksgiving and my 11 year old niece was over and asked when i was gonna teach her some plumbing, so i said come along...and we washed out the steam boiler (bad uncle) hehe

I still need to do mine.
Problem is the water is still clear and purple so I haven't really seen the need.

You might be a steam man if you spend your entire winter doing heavy manual labor on a boiler, firebox,valve gear, connecting rods, bearings, injectors/feedwater pumps, air pumps, turbogenerators and other impedimentia, so you can spend the summer shoveling coal into it to make it go, or doing much the same thing to that which it pulls!
