More info on combination 1 and 2 pipe systems. I have all of Dan,s books maybe I,m missing something.

    Weil-McLain 680 with Riello 2-stage burner, December 2012. Firing rate=375MBH Low, 690MBH Hi.
    System = Early Dunham 2-pipe Vacuo-Vapor (inlet and outlet both at bottom of radiators) Traps are Dunham #2 rebuilt w. Barnes-Jones Cage Units, Dunham-Bush 1E, Mepco 1E, and Armstrong TS-2. All valves haveTunstall orifices sized at 8 oz.
    Current connected load EDR= 1,259 sq ft, Original system EDR = 2,100 sq ft Vaporstat, 13 oz cutout, 4 oz cutin - Temp. control Tekmar 279.

    One might note, though, that there is nothing special about combination systems; the one pipe areas will behave that way, and two pipe areas the way other two pipe systems run...

    A specific question. I just wanted to find some more reading material.

    For example we had a job recently which had 1 1 pipe rad on a 2 pipe system we added a return and trap to make it 2 pipe. It would have been alot easier to leave it 1 pipe.

    We have no control over pressure or venting as it is an apartment building and I was afraid of spitting vent onto a wood floor. LIABALITY

    Burnham Heating Helper

    Hi- I'm not a pro, but one of the most useful books I have found for quick reference is the Burnham Heating Helper. It's really handy to check the specs and capacities when you run across odd ball piping which you typically find with mixed one and two pipe systems.
