I want to let everyone know I am recovering

Tim McElwain
Tim McElwain Member Posts: 4,612
from a severe case of shingles and may not respond as quickly as I usually do.

I have had to cancel my entire schedule for a while as it is very painful and is located on my face. It has also gotten into my right eye and into my mouth and throat so I have trouble speaking.

I beg your patience with gas questions I will try to answer them when I feel well enough. Thanks for understanding.

I had no idea that not ordering your manual would cause you so much stress.  I'll send it in on Monday.

    I feel for you, Tim!

Never had them, but my dad did. The good news is, they go away and in dad's case, did not come back. That was ten years ago.

Get well soon, Tim. This too shall pass.

I want to thank everyone for your

concern and prayers. I am feeling a little better today, not as much pain although I am heavily medicated. I look terrible as my entire right side of my face is one big sore. Oh well at my age who cares.

Once again as always this forum is one of the most caring places I have ever frequented. I thank you all.

An update, back to the VA today

as I am having vision problems. In fact I am having a tough time seeing to type. Hopefully it will clear up. It has also affected my hearing so ENT appointment tomorrow.
  • Tim,,,

Luckily I never had that,,, but my neighbor has.

Apparently it has something to do with never having chicken-pox?

Anyway,, I feel for you and was told it was extremely painful(apparently the prescribed medication is quite expensive),,, we have had our differences before, but I would wish-this on nobody,,, Take Care & Get Well Soon!!

Tim I hope you feel better soon

One of the things that improved my fathers health was going civilian for medical care. The VA system did not do right for him. He would most likely be blind if not dead by now if he had kept going there. I am not taking away from the hard work done by the individuals in the VA system. It is just the whole is not the sum of the parts.

Sorry to hear of your difficulty

Hope you have a speedy recovery. I think apple pie and cranberry sauce in liberal amounts, taken internally is best.

I must say I am getting

the greatest care from the VA, they are very thorough and I find most caring people. It is also a great opportunity to be with the many who have faithfully served our nation in the armed services.

I know with God's, mercy and healing touch I will come through this. It has been a crazy merry go round over the last 10 or so years with losing my job, a heart attack, several bouts with cancer and now this but I think I am truly a survivor. I thank you all for caring. This place has a special place in my heart and has since I found Heating Help many years ago. I cherish the privilege to post here and perhaps share some little of what I have to offer. I have truly learned more than I have given.

"It's been a crazy merry go round..."

    Darn Tim,

Never realized how fool lucky I've been to have enjoyed all your good thoughts and info these past years! But I sure am glad you pressed on regardless cuz I'd be considerably more ignorant without for your efforts.

I'm rooting for you and those VA people. Far as I'm concerned you can definitely tell'm you got places to go and people to see here. Just so's they know they're dealing with a real VIP.

    Cheers, Rufus

    Hi Tim,

I know we've never met or spoken, but regardless, I feel a part of the Wall family. I also appreciate all of the things I've learned from you over the years and all that you do for us. I can't even imagine the pain and frustration. I hope you'll start to see daily improvement. My prayers are with you. May you have a complete and speedy recovery.

    Sincerely,

    Adam Goldberg

    Latest update

Most of the pain has subsided. I am now enduring a problem with my speech (talking is how I make my living) I have lost control of my speech and am slurring all my words. The shingles also have caused my right eye to shut down and I am not able to control my eye lid or blink so my eye is very sore.

I want to thank everyone for your kind postings and private e-mails and birthday wishes God Bless all of you. I have faith that I will come out of this soon. The doctors tell me it can 4 to 6 weeks before I will be fully able to resume a normal schedule
