Why Plumbers are Like Dentists:

1) They provide a service necessary to public health, often thanklessly.

2) Emergencies are easily avoided with inexpensive, regular check-ups and simple, common-sense at-home care.

3) Only masochists enjoy visits as they're frequently expensive and often involve unpleasant sights, smells and sounds.

4) They are the most likely to be called at night, on weekends and on holidays when routine maintenance has been avoided and, "I can't stand it any more!"

5) Insurance rarely pays for their services and their bill is often shuffled to the bottom of the pile.
