    Geo thermal

    We just did the plumbing for six systems in a 144 unit apartment complex in Claremont , NH . We plumbed up six 120 gallon tanks before the existing water heaters and piped up the heat exchangers.

    They drilled six wells one hundred feet deep in front of each building ( 36 wells ).Right now they have two of the systems up and running.

    These systems are pre heating the water to 110 degrees before the water goes into the existing electric water heaters.

    It looks like it will pay for it self in short order.

    waters hot RASERS heats the water to 130 degrees. no drilling of any wells would have been required.

    I understand your skepticism

    But remember most of our success revolves around RECYCLING the BTU's that the customer has already bought.
    It is really difficult for a website to describe how things work. Especially since some of it is being closely held.

    Maybe you can talk Dan into coming to Orange City and checking us out. His book was influential in the decision to go hydronic. And I think everyone on this site thinks a lot of his opinion.

    Correction on COP

    I was mistaken about the COP of 4 at -15 degrees. If the evaporator panel is outside at that temp the COP is 1 to 2. If we can place the panel in a 45 degree heat waste stream we will get a 4. If we can get the panel into warmer heat streams, COP's of 5,6,or 7 could be reached. My apologies for the mistake.

    I disagree...

    Here in Iowa we are putting Geo into everything from 175,000 "starter" homes to million dollar plus estates.
    Granted, we have very good trade allies with the various energy providers and the rebate incentives they offer. Geo ground loops are also cheaper here because of the number of loop contractors. This is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication by the members of the Iowa Heat Pump Association.

    It isn't just the consumers that are reluctant.

    I find that getting established contractors to try new technologies can be harder than the consumer. Contractors get comfortable installing a certain type of system. They learn how to cut their costs with those systems and they become more specialized. If they aren't starving for work, they have little incentive to try new things especially if they percieve their reputation could be damaged if things don't go well. All valid concerns, but it builds a natural resistance to progress.
    America could get itself out of this energy crunch quicker if contractors would get a little bolder, after all, the consumers rely on the advise and vision of the professionals.

    If you're equipment is as efficient as you say...

    then it should be FANTASTIC in a well setting, no? Constant 40 degree F supply temps and all... Got any ARI or equal numbers to back up your claims?

    I find, that if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

    Have you purchased any bricks from Dan for the Wall in trade for all the free advertising you've been doing here?

    The equipment would do a great job in a constant 40 degree temperature. But we look for heat streams that are warmer and constant because that improves our COP. Homes are not our target market but we will do them. Our equipment is better suited for users of large quantities of hot water that are wasting BTU's. Show me a woman doing dishes and there are BTU's going down the drain that can be recycled. Show me a dormatory, nursing home, commercial kitchen, laundromat,truck stop, motel, greenhouse, aquatic center, hoghouse, dairy, and there are huge numbers of BTUs to be recycled.
    Our customers don't care about a lot of details, they only care about their operating costs. Most of our business is site specific.
    Waters Hot is not your competitor, unless you manufacture a HVAC system. But for Hydronic Contractors, we are another choice that could help you meet the needs of more potential customers. For many customers,Geothermal is not an option because they are in locations in which their buildings occupy all the space. (City buildings, permits)

    What you say makes sence.

    the examples you site really could use multiple stradgies to recouperate a BTU. Dan the Holohan Man is offering a very special spot for a manufacturer.... i would like to make a slightly different offer regarding perhaps a chance to install a piece of your equipment at the Cold Climate Housing Reasearch Center in Balmy Fairbanks.:) i will put a word in for you if you would like.
