Using cast iron baseboard for steam?

Can I use cast iron baseboard in a two pipe steam system? If so is there a limit in the lenght of each piece of baseboard? We will have a valve on one side and a steam trap on the other. Thank you.

I new I could do it ,my question was more about max lenghts or if there is a lenght limit for steam?

As with a lot of questions, the answer is yes, no, maybe and sometimes.

yes - cast iron baseboard is rated for steam use, one or two pipe

no - You can have problems trying to mix it into a system that has standing cast iron radiators. It has been my experience that when mixing steam radiation types (standing cast and cast baseboard) the max length on a two pipe system is about 6-8 feet to maintain even heat in the home. This usually presents a piping or economic issue. If the cast baseboard is on a different zone than the standing cast, then size the base for the heatloss, but residential steam is rarely zoned. The over 8 ft. cast base tends to take longer to heat vs. standing cast, therefore the room(s) with the cast base lose temperature.
