I do it with the wood wedges and a flat bar where needed all the time.

    Removing radiator sections

    After I cut the rods, what is the best way to separate the sections. It is a steam radiator with conncetions only at the bottom. Would wood splitting wedges work? Can metal be against metal, or is there a risk of cracking the cast?

    ...with nipples only on the bottom are often connected with screwed-in nipples instead of rods. If there are rods, they are probably push nipples and can be separated with blocks of wood and a bar, maybe tapped with a small hammer. But if they are threaded, you'll find out when the block goes through the casting.

    I tried on of these. Worked prety good with the toe wedge.
