Radiant Heat
- If heat track plates are 1" off the bottom of subfloor will the proper heat transfer still take place? Floor thickness is 1 1/4" (extending plates down 1" would avoid nails damaging the Pex tubing.0 -
No.
Contact with the sub-floor is everything. Nip off the nails and screw/staple the track plates snugly to the sub-floor.
What you describe is one hand clapping.
Unless you are running a high temperature system (and even then using a different emitter) you just have to make contact.0 -
Plumbing Heating & electrical work done.prompt reply.

contact is one of the things that has to happen or it just doesnt communicate*~/:)0 -
Unless of coarse. you use Ultra-Fin. Installed 3" below the subfloor.Perpindictu;ar to the joists, and alot of holes.
There's an application for everything. Personally I'd rather drill than grind, but thats up to you.0
