The Y terminals on a board tend to be just a lug and a common for the contactor coil. Not saying the design of the board uses it for other reasons.

I would also check the thermo wire first as Joe posted....Could be a short...

What is odd to me is why the heat works after you disconect the contactor? The only thing I can come up with is the transformer does not have the power to pull in both,the G valve and the contactors coil at the same time.Or the board in design ,if it sensors voltage at Y will shut off the heat.I don't know without reading the scymatic,but both takes us back to a short in the wire.....

arcoaire gas furnace

Found condenser running during call for heat. Heater will not fire consistently unless one side of 2 wire to condenser is pulled from Y terminal on circuit board. Is problem more than likely stat related or circuit board. Thanx

What is the make and model

of the circuit board? Give me that and I can tell you what internal circuits may be giving you trouble.

T stat sub base

Check yor condenser wires dis connect them and ohm them out then check your t stat maybe the sub base is bad and i believe on some models you need a good ground for the common termial is made through the cabinet grounding and i have had 1 or 2 do the same i believe mostly on the likes of goodman if not mistaken peace clammy
