do you have now? Have you had trouble with water backing up into the mains? If the present "A" dimension works, you should be OK.

\"A\" Dimension
I have decided to replace my pre world war II boiler in my one pipe steam system. I think I have a pretty good heating man. However I am concerned about the "A" Dimension. I don't have enough head room in the basement from the water line to the Main to get the 28 inches that is necessary. Is their an alternative?
Thanks

A dimension
You only need 28" if the boiler is over 100,000 BTUH output.
Under 100,000 BTUH 14" will do fine.
If the boiler is prewar2 your new boiler will a bit lower than the old one so you will gain some inches for the dimension A.
