It's a flow-check

to keep water from entering the radiators by gravity when the circulator is off. These are used on multiple-zone systems or on boilers having tankless coils.

I'd check the radiation against the building's heat-loss to see if it would run in condensing range enough to make a Munchkin worthwhile.

Fall's defineitely coming. Sometimes Condensing boilers are useful if the heat emmitters are large oversized cast iron radiators that were installed with a gravity system. I've had some systems that can go as low as 140 degrees @ 10 degrees outside temps because of that particular situation. That leaves lots of room on the outdoor re-set for condensing temps for the boiler. Hey Steamhead! anything come of that referal I sent your way in Balmore? WW

Yes it did

I've been meaning to thank you so now is as good a time as any. I looked at the system and determined it needed some work. Owner will have the asbestos removed then call us to get his system going the way it should be.
