Backflow bypass

Any RPA members out there have a problem with the article "Pressurization of Closed Hydronic Systems " in the March 2004 Radiant Panel Report? Figure 3 shows a bypass line plumbed in upstream of the makeup water supply valve going around the backflow device, press red valve, and connecting downstream of the isolation valve. I feel the proper location of the supply side of the bypass line should be downstream of the backflow device.

You are absolutely correct!
The BFP must be in advance of the by-pass line or the by-pass becomes a cross-connection the has the potential to negate the BFP's protection.
On the other hand, the BFP could be installed as the last device between the PRV, by-pass line and the hydronic water.
