I have installed a new style water heater and the pilot goes out several times a day. It will not stay lit. I replaced the unit, but the problem continues. Any one have any ideas?

Combustion air adequate?
These things don't just "happen". There is usually a reason. Excess draft, inadequate combustion air, mechanically induced negative air pressure, gas line exposed to sun shine...

Did it get dropped hard....
During shipping or istallation? Have you taken a thermocouple reading and confirmed it to be acceptable? If the pilot flame isn't hitting enough of the prover,(did it get bumped out of place in shipping or installation) it will not be able to hold the pilot circut open . Just a thought. Chris0 -
where is ...
it installed? Is it in a closet? Is it in a laundry room next to a furnace? Is it in a basement next to a hot air furnace.
This is going to be a common problem with the new heaters. Many things in the house can cause this. A bit more info will help.
