ladies and gentlemen it has been a very hectic day. I got a call yesterday about a problem with a Carrier furnace making CO they did everything could not get it to stop.
I went and took a look today and thanks to my friends at Carrier I had some new books on this furnace. Here is the deal WHEN USING PROPANE ON SOME OF THESE FURNACES AND BOILERS THAT HAVE A NOX INSERT (NITROUS OXIDE) IT HAS TO BE REMOVED. IT CAN ONLY BE USED WITH NATURAL GAS. IT IS AN INSERT INTO THE BURNER ITSELF. ON LP REMOVE IT.
I AM NOT SURE ABOUT ALL BOILERS AND FURNACES BUT IT IS RIGHT IN THE CARRIER INSTRUCTIONS. REMOVED IT RESET EVERYTHING CO LEVEL BELOW 100 PPM (55 PPM).

Tell us more -
a low Nox atmospheric (fan assisted?) burner for the residential market?0 -
Carrier has one
I do not have the Model but they are not the only ones using an insert in the burner on Natual Gas to reduce NOX emissions.
I can't remember all of them right now but when I can will get a list and post it.0 -
I don't know what make, don't think it was Carrier, but there was a major recall in California of low NOX residential furnaces that were causing house fires. Or that is what the fire department blamed it on.0 -
I would think that bryant
must have a low nox model as they come off the same asembly line, and I know York makes one, and their instructions tell you to remove the screens on a propane conversion. I don't know the specific model numbers. Paul0
