On this boiler ~1987 the flue collector sits on top of the cast sections. Tonight we noticed that there is a gap between them and elevated CO. Its totally shut down obviously for safety reasons.
When this was built was it just gasket cement between these 2 parts? Or was it a gasket?
We have to make a judgement call in the morning as to whether to keep it or replace it as its now around 18 degrees here & base will be in danger of freezing tomorrow night.

If the collector is in good condition,,the gap can be sealed with furnace cement. Be sure to check the draft and re-check for CO after repairs are made. The collector should sit firmly on top of the sections.0 -
