Any opinion on weil-mclain burner QB-180.Pro and con.

    Not a bad burner but at least IMO not quite up to Riello standards. The biggest problem with this burner is the fact that it has been discontinued.

    that WM is even making them anymore.

    QB W/Mburner

    I installed a few 3-4 years ago . They said (at the supply house) it stood for "quiet burner" . Couldn't be further from the truth .They were loud running , loud starting and loud going up the chimney . Ran nice and clean , but the noise drove me back to W/M-Beckett combo with pre and post purge . JMHO Chris.

    until they did'nt... when those babies start runnin funky the boiler turns into one nasty soot ball.

    True, and at that point you probably replaced the

    spinner and it went back to running fine. I have never heard of it, but I wonder if the air holes in the brass ring could become plugged given the right environment.C

    After doing this for ,

    about 10 years I think anything can and will get plugged!I have found the W/M with an Carlin E-Z Pro burner will give you very nice results.
