3 inch cpvc

Options

I have a HTP eftc 140w that I picked second hand. It did not come with the 6 inches of cpvc that is supplied from factory on the vent, where is a good a good place to source that.

USplastics.com will sell short pieces, may even send a 6’ sample. They have sent me 12” pieces of various plastic pipe

Here is a 5’ section on their site

IPEX sells a PVC listed for flue gas

uhh..that is for one, not a pack of 10?

you can find 10’ sticks of the IPEX listed CPVC for not much more$$

Or contact HTP for the starter piece.

Early on they sent a piece of ABS as the starter piece, probably a piece of solid core.

The other option is Centrotherm or one of the other listed PP systems. Then the whole vent system is an approved, listed system

Maybe that unit vents with 2” for short distances. That brings the cost down.

    @Forge_Fixer88

Do you have a plumbing supply house near you? Go there and have them order what you want. Heck, you might get lucky; they might have it in stock.

  • @hot_rod I think I'll go with innoflue. I can do 2inch if it's under 50ft combined . Can I have as an example 10 ft for intake and 40 ft for exhaust? I'm thinking about putting a filter on the intake side and have an air vent into the utility room. How do I calculate what the equivalent feet of an air filter is? I live beside a quarry and a railroad and there can be a fair bit of dust in the air not sure what effect that will have on a boiler.

Good idea on an intake filter. Here is a system one of @GGross customers uses. Still uses outside air, but filters it at the boiler

Check your manual, most mod cons allow intake from the room, also. This would filter and cut down noise.

I don't know a large filter like this would add much to the intake piping calculation. Until it plugs up :)

I've seen a case with a furnace filter made to filter the outside air to a mod con also And a canister and filter from a semi truck on one job.

I put a Munchkin in a Farm Store with a gravel parking lot once, and it developed a handful of those "mouse turds" the first season from the dust. Your boiler is what it breathes.

  • So am I limited to 25 feet on the exhaust side?

    If so I can't vent with 2 inch since I need 3 90s

  • I saw In the manual for the laars branded version of my boiler that with propane the combined total is even shorter. Why would that be?

If you don't have any intake piping, I think you have 50' of available length on the exhaust? Does the manual show the table for exhaust only, itake from the room?

  • It does not show an exhaust only chart. It does say the intake and exhaust does not have to be equal length.

plenty of boilers pull air from the room or directly outside. So use the length chart for exhaust only.

  • I ended up using 2 inch innoflue by centrotherm, it is a very nice product and it's nice to know it can handle anything a mod con can throw at it.
