First company condenser motor failed out of the box
Have first company throu the wall condenser installed model 30WCX2BA200F.
Although, it's cooling fine, the motor ECM is creating strange sounds "stop and go" and was confirmed by the technitian as defective at the date of the installation. More than a month passed from the installation date and the motor is still not replaced. Contractor explains it by the motor backorder.
My old national comfort ac was working with no problem for 25 years.
The only reason i decided to replace it - i had to replace my furnice, and contractor recommended replace old condencer at the same time.
Can somebody comment on this?
What is my best move?

This is the way things are sometimes. I would get on the contractors case and make him track one down. Then I would call First Co and check availability. See if the stories match.

I looked up that unit, and it only shows 1 motor the part # MDRM033241
If you go on the First Co web site, you can fish around and find the distributors in your area. Call them and check availability. The Reps are listed. Call them and raise some hell.
You're going to have to do the contractors job for them to get a straight answer.

Sometimes I would order a complete new condensing unit and rob the motor from it, then put the defective motor back on the new unit. I would return the replacement unit to the supplier with a note indicating that the condenser motor appeared to have been tampered with. I would request a full refund and explain that I had decided to use a different piece of equipment. Now you have placed the problem of getting the backordered motor on someone else.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I’m not convinced from your description that the motor is bad. ECMs bump the motor in either rotation when they start to determine the proper direction to run. The fact that it’s running and cooling indicates that nothing is wrong.

Thank you!
Per Ironman point that there may be nothing wrong with the motor:
- Both installation technitian and the supper agree that sounds from the motor indicate it's defective.
- I recorded the "whoming" sou nds attached.
- I recorded the sounds from my neighbour first company ecm unit and it does not have that sound.
