Replace a 9-year old SpacePak LAHP2 AWHP with another SpacePak or a Mitsubishi Ecodan?
When it was working, the system delivered lovely hydronic radiant heat to 6 zones of our 2,000 sq ft single story home in Maine. Replaced the compressor at 5 years and the unit failed again on Christmas Day. Now leary of the ROI of SpacePak (though I see they are now advertising “reliable Toshiba condensers”). Would you consider an Ecodan vs SpacePak?

compressions don’t fail they’re murdered!
what was the cause of failure? What corrective action was taken?

Homeowner here, so limited technical knowledge. SpacePak required our tech to test many things before they honored the warranty on the 5 year old compressor. This time at 9 years, no warranty, discontinued Solstice Extreme model, few parts available—so I don’t know if we’ll get into a deep diagnostic.
My question is identifying the best replacement option.

2 compressors in 10 years doesn’t say much for your service provider!
Also, Space pack did not manufacture that compressor, probably Copeland Corporation.
Was it ever explained what failed in the compressor? Burnout, mechanical etc?

The issue is residential A2WHP is so rare, you will find very little out there. Most manufacturers use an Asian OEM to produce their air to water. Did a quick google, but could find where Spacepak R32 units come from.
Mitsubishi has a long history of air to water, the question always is how long they will stay. Daikin was in the US market for a couple of years and left.
If you are looking for a more direct replacement, LG also has their KPHT hydro unit which is a monoblock.
Are you running by chance an indirect on the unit? I've found producing DHW very hard on mine especially when it drops bellow freezing. I've added a resistance heater to mine so the heat pump only needs to run for very large draws.
