Certified Lochinvar Service in Metro Boston, MA

Hi,

I had a new Lochinvar Noble boiler installed a few years back and used a contractor referred by this forum. I wanted to find someone trustworthy owing to issues with the prior install (previous homeowner ended up with the largest possible Buderus boiler - much to large for the house/mass of water in the system). The install was great and I have had no issues. The installer was a true pro and I trust him 110%.

I need to have the unit serviced and the original installer is 90+ minutes away - inconvenient for him and adding travel time which doubles the service cost. We texted and he would understand if I had the service done by someone locally owing to cost/travel.

I'd like to find a trustworthy company in metro Boston to service the unit but the Lochinvar site isn't returning any certified service contractors in my area and searching the internet isn't turning up any HVAC service companies with this brand on their website.

Does anyone have any referrals? Does it matter if the service provider is certified?

I have had mini-splits installed and my Trane primary AC serviced by a local company that claims to service Lochinvar - I have had a great experience with them but the brand isn't listed on their website. They have provided information about the "need to replace" my AC system that conflicted with another service company that it turns out was trying to scare me into a replacement so I trust them.

I may just end up paying the original installer to make the drive - he is an excellent person and I would trust him 110%.

Appreciate any feedback!

David

Personally I would pay the original installer if it were my choice. I am going to say something that might get some pushback, but the factory certified thing for residential rarely means much. Larger companies can get a few people into classes to get certified and send new techs out that don't understand service. thats not to say its always what happens, The excellent service contractors typically are also factory certified, but if I found a contractor that knew how to service equipment I would pay double the local guys rate to keep them around.

Good feedback. I am leaning towards paying double for the original installer to travel. He is just so trustworthy - that probably justifies the premium.

Maybe go to the Lochinvar website to see if they list installers, or the rep in your area that would know the qualified companies.

If you watch the service videos at the Lochinvar soite you will know what to expect when they do service the unit

I would go with the original installer.

The mfgs may not know who is good or bad with their product. They may point you to the dealer that sells the most of their product but it does not mean he is good.
