Legacy Hot Water Heater

I’m inquiring about service and parts for a hot water heating tank manufacture by TRAGESER Copper Works Inc.

JFK / Idlewild Area
Jamaica, New York 11430

Unit Details:

• Model: CR40B

• Serial: B316311

• Era: Likely mid-20th century copper tank construction

What We Need Help With:

We are specifically looking to service or replace components related to pilot light operation and burner ignition, not replace the tank!!!

Potential components we are trying to identify or source include:

• Pilot light assembly

• Thermocouple

• Gas control valve

• Pilot tubing

• Ignition / safety control components

• Thermostat or heat regulation interface 

We need an ethical, competent specialist who is adapt at working with legacy systems.

    They usually have 2 problems. 1. The valve is obsolete and was delisted because it wasn't safe to begin with. 2. Don't have a taping suitable for a t&p valve of sufficient capacity and a way to get the temp probe in the tank. There are ways to replace the gas valve with a different setup but making the relief valve meet current code may not be possible. If it is just the thermocouple that should be a standard part.

    Hi, Photos of the top of the tank and gas train would be helpful. I'm not remembering if this is an "external flue" heater. If so, the shank on a replacement gas valve will need to be a bit longer. It may not be hard to add a T&P at the hot outlet with a redo of that line.

    ps. What problems is the heater giving you?
