How a Hotel full of people get sick..
This very popular Hotel Chain is very clean and affordable. I stay here often. I pointed this out to the manager and hopefully they foward it to upper management. From my first day in New York City's Plumber's Local #2 (Manhattan & Bronx) in September of 1986, my instructor Eddie Booth (Who we just lost a few months ago) told us of our Mission and Burden:
"The Plumber Protects the Health of The Nation!!...Never forget that!!" Mad Dog

This is one of those installs for why you need get the plumber to have an inspection. We do ice machines all the time and we are under a microscope within the company. It's real important to have that air gap and have the bin drain and head individually piped. I would 100% disciplined for this at minimum. The hardest thing we run into is finding lead-free 9D or similar. it's getting better for us but a lot of places don't carry them and a lot of plumbers don't realize you need them.

Actually there's 2 things wrong there.
The head cannot T into the bin drain, this allows the wastewater to flow into the ice in the bin
Both drains need to be 2X the inside diameter above the floor drain. In this case 1 1/2" above.

The young lady at the desk was receptive and replied : "I'm surprised because we just had a full mechanical inspection by Corporate." 'Well, they missed this....very serious oversight. ' Mad Dog

@Mad Dog_2 nice catch. I can hear the complaints now when it's corrected. Waters getting on the floor. It's making a mess. Hope they fix it properly and use a clip on strainer cup.

the fact that it probably hasn't been cleaned since it was installed is an equal problem
