Are any you guys registered on HVAC Talk as technicians?
In the forum link below, there is an HVAC Talk tech member who said that the reason for howling is commonly known and stated within the HVAC Talk tech member area only.
Instead of telling me the cause of howling, he is telling me to have my installer register as an HVAC Talk Tech member to find the answer.
Figured Id ask to see if any of you are registered as tech members on the HVAC Talk website and might be able to access the tech members only area where the reason is stated.
I appreciate any support you guys could offer, thanks!0 -
I'm not on there, never been a fan of the closed communities but that's off topic. I would wager a guess if someone thinks there is a single reason and only one reason a boiler would howl that they would suggest the CSST gas line. For what its worth it is a commonly discussed issue here, personally I have never seen it, thousands of "howl-free" installs with properly sized CSST, but several people that I have grown to trust on this board have discussed the issue at length and I tend to believe they indeed had an issue caused by CSST pipe. Fact is there is more than one reason a boiler might howl, it's worth exploring all the options, if someone knows a specific issue regarding this specific model they should make it public. There is no reason not to.

I have been a registered member since 2007 and just recently applied for professional status. What a joke. They have too many rules about who can actually give help and get help. I was offering my oil heat experience (which is rare to get) to someone and the ADMIN deleted my post because I don't have the proper credentials on their forum so I told the person who had the problem to contact me on HeatingHelp.com and was banned for promoting a DIY help site.
I didn’t really spend much time on HVAC Talk and only recently started to think about helping the folks there. They are not interested in actual help. They are interested in rules.
@pecmsg is a long time member with the proper credentials I believe. See if he is interested in getting those loggerheads your information.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

That is because of their site rules. No DIY.
You were given several things to look at.
Gas Pressure
Combustion Analyses
along with a few others.
Personally, I question the size and overall length of the intake and exhaust piping.
Have you had any of these checked yet? Scheduled an appointment with a service provider? Its been 8 days since your 1st question.

@pecmsg
Yes sir, last I spoke with the installer they were to show up yesterday but it fell through. I am going to touch base with them to try to get another appointment within the next week.
I have personally tried everything I could personally do without the combustion analyzer or digital manometer with no luck.
Just in a holding pattern at this point.0
