So I live in bergan county NJ. I'm looking to get a contractor who can service my boiler yearly, also looking for like an insurance against the boiler. I know PSEG offers something. I don't know if anyone offers it. I called Homeserv they don't service or insure steam boiler.

What do you guys think?

try the "find a contractor link" above to find someone in your area. Many of those folks that come up are also contributors on this website and regularly give up their time in these forums to help others out there with their issues and equipment questions besides running their own businesses, so they may be able to service your equipment and answer most or all of the questions you may have. The good folks may not "insure" your equipment but after a good cleaning they can advise you in their personal/professional opinion how much longer your stuff may last and they typically warranty their own work also.

yeah sure will they do anything absolutely, collect check and finance new boiler install interest free for a few years and put ya on trouble free and it will be until there's a issue which they will state that we dont do anything w water ? crazy . Will they do anything the mentioned pro would do absolute not will there install be to a total mim yes . Will they ever come back and flush and clean the boiler highly doubtful .I ve seen many pseg installs and i was left feeling that its no wonder they beat every replacement price when ya do the bare mim . and get away w it . It would not be bad if they did a good job but in my eyes it is really terrible always to the mim and always dirty as sin no skim tapping just garbage .I ve looked at doing repipes but they had zero money being they had 4 or 5 years yet to pay off the boiler as it was so reality there was nothing i could or would do being i do not work for free . so i hope this gives ya a idea of whats out there from the gas company . If your looking for financing there a ton of guys out there offering it ,does that mean you will get a great price and excellent work who knows .Pick up the dice and roll being theres alot of self promoters who offer financing but remember that just cause they got the money end sawn up does necessary mean they know one end of a wrench from another so tread carefully. In closing one thing i ve always heard that the last guy stated was Well thats the way steam is noisey to which they should be shown the door .

As easy as steam is to some w a clue those who business is solely volume will never get it right being they dont have the time nor the interest being the next big $ is there main concern . The saddest part is that some of it is not cut and dry and that alot of it requires experience and return visits to flush wash and clean the boiler which low ballers will never do and yes everything is expensive and when having some one w experience perform the job it cost but usually the results are near perfection .

    peace and good luck clammy

what you want is a service contract which some of the above might provide. won't go in to my opinion of service contracts beyond just basic maintenance.

Maybe that's what I should be looking for a service contract. Thanks
