Buderus or Viessmann?

Hi all, first time poster and first time homeowner here. I am looking to replace my aging oil boiler in the northeast. I've narrowed my selection down to the Buderus G115WS or Viessmann Vitorond 100. My goal with my oil boiler is replacement is as much reliability and longevity as possible, is thirty years even possible out of an oil boiler anymore? And should I still be considering an EK System 2000? Thank you for any and all input!

    Yes. Consider the EK.

    Between the Buderus or Viessmann, consider the contractor. Have you narrowed it down, and they offer both? Do you know what burner is offered with either? The Vitorond 100 was typically packaged with the Beckett NX burner, and the NX is now discontinued. Will the boiler be responsible for producing domestic hot water as well? Indirect? Will you be using Outdoor Reset? Buffer tank? What type of emitters?

    Properly maintained, you'll get 30 years out of any of the three. They're not mod cons after all.

    Thank you for your input. My installer is recommending both the Buderus and the Viessmann and has experience installing both systems. He is leaning towards Viessmann though. He uses Riello burners for both systems and the system will be responsible for domestic hot water and will be used for hydronic baseboard heating in my home.

    I will be using an indirect water tank, he is recomending either an HTP Superstor 80 or a Turbomax 50. Every installer I have spoken to has swayed me against an outdoor reset for any system.

    rumors on the oil heat site that. Buderus is discontinuing some versions?
    It’s hard to get a straight answer these days, but recent events seem to make you wonder about import boilers in general, cast iron specifically.

    It seems these decesions happen without much notice to the distribution and rep chain, i.e. SlantFin, TT, Basi.
    Oventrop and Adey have left the US market also. Tariff headaches??

    Data suggest heat pumps have surpassed boiler sales in France, Germany and Italy

    Trade shows indicate all the big boiler manufacturers continue to promote HP offerings.

    I don't disagree at all, I'm just not interested in fully converting to heat pumps at this time. I will definitely be considering a hybrid set up in the future when I replace my ducted two zone central air system later.

    I was thinking more about staying with a boiler brand that you can get parts and support for down the road, not necessarily a HP.

    Searching around HH you see what brand(s) gets support, and is very willing to help their customers.
