Pressuretrol
Hello using I'm using about a 18yr old Burnham V904A with Honeywell pressuretro,l same age, lately boiler will run only about 25 30 mins, and pressuretrol will hit 3psi and kick boiler off. I have a gauge on it. boiler will cut off at least 2 times to go up 2 degrees pressuretrol is subtractive. Cut in is a little below 2psi. the cut out is around 2psi. I say around because its between 0 +5 psi

did it not do this before when running long cycles to recover from a setback? are all the emitters heating?

I don't think it did that before . it would run until it satisfied the thermostat as far as I remember. all units are getting heat

Something changed — and probably not the pressuretrol, though it wouldn't hurt to check that the pigtail is opne.
The change inn cycling suggests a reduction in load — anything get shut off?

pigtails are new were change before heating season. when you ask did anything get turned off, like what would that be.

I agree remove and check/clean pigtail and connection to boiler and pressure control.

Are my settings ok ?

Any load. Most likely a radiator or radiators which were working which aren't…

This may have operated this way in the past and you never noticed it. For some reason you just started noticing it and a 30 to 40 minute run time for a burner on a steam boiler is not a bad thing. In order to get a more accurate pressure reading you may want to purchase a lower pressure gauge that measures from 0 to 5 PSI in ounces per square inch.
Some steam boilers operate at 5 ounces (less than 1/2 PSI) and ramp up to 16 ounces (1PSI) then shut off until the pressure is back down to 5 ounces in 10 minutes or less. then they run for 10 minutes or less to get back up to 16 ounces.
Every boiler system is different. Yours may operate better at a lower pressure, but you can't really know what that pressure is with the zero to 30 gauge that the manufacturer is required to include by code. You can have the 0-30 on one pigtale and the 0 - 5 on another pigtail. That way you will know what is really happening inside that boiler.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Thank you, I will look into the new gauges. By the way I did check pigtails, they were clean
