Main air vent installation
My plumber wants to install a air vent on my 2nd floor bathroom. The gas boiler is located in the basement. The pipe is going up to the roof. Attached is a picture. Right now I have a regular vent there, but he thinks because I don't have a main vent anywhere else , this is a good place to put a main air vent? He would connect a tee and out the main air vent where the current normal air vent is.
I am not sure if this is a good places to connect a main air vent for steam boiler hearing. Thank you
Thoughts ...thank you.

I would like to see it on the horizontal part of the main after the last radiator (or riser) runout.
But I do wonder, where does that pipe terminate and how?

It may not be the best location but if you are short on venting anything can help. I too would like to know where that pipe goes.

I don't know where it ends. The top is the roof. Any ideas?

Your boiler is steam correct? The only reason I can think of for that pipe going into the attic was if the steam system is a "MILLS" system with the steam main in the attic with down feed risers.

I have no idea. I think it goes to the roof though

It is steam.

A radiator air vent at that location indicates the pipe is there simply as a radiator, rather than feeding something above it. The pipe probably stops at that fitting in the ceiling. Its purpose is to heat the bathroom.
That would be an odd place to put a main vent. Where are you located? We may know someone who specializes in steam and can help.
