advice on replacing stuck old main vent

Options

I just discovered a main vent in a crawl space that has failed (too long a story on why I didn't know it was there after 40 years in my house). It's stuck and a 16" pipe wrench doesn't budge it. Im wondering if I should do the wd-40 thing or just cut it off and get the threads out. Advice on what a pro would do is much appreciated. thanks in advance.

Pete

I would first try using a 24" or add a section of pipe over the handle gain more leverage power .. If it breaks cut it flush and cross cut the threaded section .. If no room to cut out replace that section of the main with new … I know crawl space work sucks…

There was an error rendering this rich post.

Add some liquid wrench or similar, tap other with a hammer and leave overnight. Then use the cheater bar on the wrench handle.

WD-40 never works and a cheater bar always does 😅

Yes but the smell of the penetrating oil in the confined crawl space gives you the adrenaline spike to get out of there as quick as possible :)
