Your opinion please about Temu sponsorship
I was recently approached by Temu to sponsor my videos on my YouTube Channel. Would that be a mistake? My son thinks it would say I was endorsing them instead of the brand name manufacturers. I believe the viewers would make they own mind up about what tools work best for them. Your thoughts please

I had to look up Temu as I am not familiar with the brand. It appears they are into clothing, beauty and jewelry. Personally I don't see the connection to heating systems.
However, if a company is looking to put money in your pocket I guess it might make sense. If the company was promoting a product that I thought was inferior, against my beliefs, etc. I would say no.

Ray please have a look at these reddit posts. Sponsored content, and what is acceptable for you and your audience is a really deep subject with a whole lot of opinions, there is an entire segment of youtube videos that discuss this at length. Normally I would say if it doesn't compromise the content then have at it. As a viewer most sponsored ads are fine to me, I don't like when product review channels take sponsors from products they might otherwise review, or in the case of music channels the ones that are advertising their own AI replacement currently.

I have a love/hate relationship with sponsors for YouTube channels. That said, I generally pay absolutely no attention to the ads they attach!
I would say that so long as you have a cast iron agreement in writing that they won't influence what you talk about or say, no problem…

Look deep into their products and how they present themselves in their ads. Look how they relate to the products they sell and what they are presenting so that you can get a feel for whether it would be a good relationship or not. And what @Jamie Hall and what @GGross says above. It's a close call for me. Not so sure I would do it.

@RayWohlfarth , I wouldn't do that. Stay independent.

Youtube is going to stick ads into your content no matter what. In my experience — and maybe they just have me pegged — the ads are for quack medical devices and sketchy inventions.
Temu is a marketplace, really no different from Amazon or Ebay. They don't manufacture anything, there is no Temu brand. They choose what they sell, not you.
I say take their money.

I think temu is controversial in a lot of ways and probably not a great idea to be associated with them. I guess the first question is what are you trying to accomplish with sponsorship, would you have even thought about it if they didn't contact you? If you do want sponsorship I would contact manufacturers in the steam and hydronic industry. You also need to pay for a lawyer in here to make sure you understand what you are signing up for.

most of these sponsors are too little money to hire a lawyer for, plus with foreign countries you get into international law and will spend far more time and money than it's worth. Usually they either want a sponsored video, or an ad read, with a guaranteed minimum and bonus incentives for viewership or affiliate link usage.
The main thing is to make sure its really Temu contacting you, they aren't a scam, but scammers have been known to imitate sponsors. If you want to be safe make sure you don't spend any money on the sponsored content out of pocket. Even with a contract it doesn't matter if an international legal battle will cost 20x what you are out. One thing I saw recently was a well known youtube sponsor, that was based in china, had a whole deal with a large music youtuber to do a giveaway and ad read. the guarantee was around $50k, with a $25k bonus that this guy was definitely going to hit. Part of the deal was that the company would sponsor a giveaway for $10k worth of stuff (not stuff that was bought from the sponsor either just channel related music gear from a 3rd party, sponsor was a mobile game). The guy spent the $10k and made the video, then the sponsor sent him a message demanding he delete a comment he made several years prior that read "Taiwan is a country" He refused, they refused payment, so he made the video with himself as the sponsor. You could win that lawsuit, but it would cost a whole lot more than $10k, this was a higher payout sponsor while Temu is known to be a low payout sponsor.

yeah, that's the stuff the lawyer is there to explain to you. if it doesn't cover the lawyer it probably isn't worth it.
