i live in trumbull ct i put my 330 tank in less than 25 years ago it leaked i changed it had to go with steel the roth would not workout easily and was scared tank would let go. i see granby now offers only a one year warranty on top fed tanks down from 10. my tank had 5 or 6 different places where oil was weeping out. my friend owns a large oil tank business near me he told me his business on tank to tank replacements is ten times what it was a few years ago. the supply house said its biofuel causing it. anyone heard of this

I have heard about problems with biofuel on all sorts of items, fuel pumps, oil filters, OSVs and the like. They even make a Biofuel version of the TigerLoop. I am not surprised that your steel fuel tank is experiencing a problem.

The plastic inner liner of the Roth and the Granby version of the plastic tank should be impervious to the corrosive agents of higher percentage Biofuel mixtures. If you have a newer steel tank that is failing, then get a plastic tank.

it was easier for me to just put the same tank back didnt have to cut and thread. as for letting go tank was 3/4 full and i didnt want that on my floor.ive never used bio fuel and niether has almost all the customers of my friend with the oil tank business

Just another reason oil is falling on its face. Too bad. No tank should fail in 25 years. They used to last 40-50 years and the tanks were not always 12 gauge like they are now. They were 14 gauge.

Yes, biofuel heating oil is required in Connecticut. Starting July 1, 2022, all heating oil sold in the state must be a low-carbon fuel blend containing at least 5% biodiesel. This requirement increases to 10% by July 1, 2025, and further to 50% by July 1, 2035. This legislation aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the use of renewable fuels in heating oil. ct.gov+4
