B&G air charger tank fitting
I haven't seen this model before. There is a nipple and cap attached to the bottom. How do you charge the tank?

The bottom cap is removed to drain the tank if needed and the valve is closed to allow water to fill the tank and create the point of no pressure change.

The tank will have either water or air in it. When you drain the water, the tank is then full of air. You then let boiler water into the tank to pressurize it.

The pressure reducing valve charges the tank.

that is how I would Service any traditional overhead compression tank when it gets waterlogged: drain it and close it back up and allow it to fill. I was hoping this "air charger" fitting would make the job quicker and easier somehow. Is it just a port to let air in while draining the water in the tank into the system?
